Fridge Filter Finder

Step 1 of 3

Loading the finder...

One moment while we load the latest database.

We built this finder after one too many WhatsApp messages where a customer photographed the back of a Samsung with a torch, trying to read a sticker in 8 point type. The finder gets you to the correct cartridge in under a minute, no scrolling through generic e-commerce listings, no guessing at part numbers. When you hit Match, you get the exact part, plus a one tap way to book the swap with our team, or take the part number to any supplier if you prefer a DIY install.

Where to find your fridge model number

The finder matches against a model prefix, so you only need the first few characters. If the sticker is faded or hidden, send us a photo on WhatsApp and we will read it for you.

1

Check inside the fridge

Open the main fridge compartment and look on the left hand wall, near the top. Most brands print a rectangular sticker there with the full model number, the serial number and the manufacture date.

2

Try the back or side panel

If the internal sticker is worn, the same information is printed on the back of the fridge or on a side panel near the compressor. On American style side by sides, it is often near the ice maker box.

3

Or send a photo

Photograph the sticker and WhatsApp it to 011 477 1118. We reply during business hours with the exact filter part number and a quote for supply and installation in your suburb.

A finder, not a catalogue

There are dozens of fridge filter cartridges on the South African market. Almost every listing on Takealot, bidorbuy and the usual marketplaces reads like the same part in different packaging, and the mismatches are easy to spot only after you have opened the box.

This tool is not a product catalogue. It is a narrowed down matching engine we use in house to identify the correct replacement for every job. It favours reliability of fit over breadth of stock, which is why you only see a single recommended match per fridge.

  • Matches by model prefix and example model, not by wishful thinking
  • Shows the genuine OEM part number plus verified compatibles
  • One tap handoff to our installation service, or take the number elsewhere

What is actually inside your fridge filter?

Most fridge filters are carbon block with a sediment wrap. Water enters through the inlet, passes through a micron rated sediment layer that catches rust, grit and pipe sediment, then through an activated carbon core that reduces chlorine taste, chlorine odour and most volatile organic compounds. Cleaner water leaves the outlet and feeds both the dispenser and the ice maker.

The better cartridges also carry NSF/ANSI 42 and 53 certifications. 42 covers taste, odour and chlorine. 53 covers health related contaminants like lead, cysts and some VOCs. We stock both categories.

Genuine OEM or reputable compatible?

Both fit the same housing, both deliver filtered water. The difference is who made the cartridge and how the certification lab tested it. We quote both on every match.

Genuine OEM

Manufacturer branded

The cartridge carries the fridge brand's name and original part number. Samsung HAF-CIN/EXP, LG LT700P, Whirlpool EveryDrop and so on. This is the default when the fridge is still under manufacturer warranty.

  • Guaranteed compliance with the fridge's original spec
  • Maintains original manufacturer warranty
  • Typical lifespan of 6 months / 2 500 L
  • Premium price, premium packaging
Compatible

Reputable third party

Made by established filter brands to match the original housing, flow rate, micron rating and certification. We only stock compatibles with NSF/ANSI certification, not the cheapest option on the listing.

  • Same physical fit and flow rate
  • NSF/ANSI 42 and often 53 certified
  • Lifespan matches the OEM cartridge
  • 30 to 40 percent lower unit cost

Why homeowners use our finder

Andy Plumbers has been handling water work in Joburg for decades. The finder is a shortcut to the same answer our office would give you on the phone, only faster.

Actual matches

Built from our real installation database, not a scraped spreadsheet. Every match is one we have fitted.

Supply plus install

Take the part to any supplier, or let us supply and install it. Same finder, two paths.

Johannesburg local

Decades in Fairland. Short drive to Sandton, Bryanston, Fourways and the surrounding suburbs.

Human fallback

Model not in the database? Hit WhatsApp, send a photo of the sticker, we take it from there.

From match to installed, in one team

Once the finder shows your cartridge, the next decision is whether to fit it yourself or hand the job to us. Internal push in and twist in cartridges are straightforward swaps. Inline filters that live behind or under the fridge, and first time installs that tap into the cold water line, are where we earn our fee.

A typical installation visit covers three things:

  • Shutting down the water line safely and replacing the cartridge without mess
  • Flushing the new filter, usually 10 to 15 litres, until the water runs clear
  • Resetting the fridge's indicator light and confirming dispenser and ice maker flow

We also spot the surrounding issues that a new filter will not fix on its own. A weeping saddle valve, a kinked plastic inlet hose, a collapsed copper couple behind the fridge. If any of those are at play, we quote you on them honestly before we leave.

What we stock, what we source

We carry the most common cartridges in Fairland, so same week installation is the default in the northern suburbs. These include Samsung HAF-CIN, LG LT700P and LT1000P, Whirlpool EveryDrop, Bosch CS-52 and a selection of universal 1/4 inch inline cartridges for older fridges.

For less common models, Smeg FAB28 series cartridges, certain Hisense and Defy builds and a handful of older Samsung RF models, we source within a few business days from our filter suppliers. You get a realistic lead time in your quote, no vague promises.

  • In stock: Samsung HAF-CIN, LG LT700P/LT1000P, Whirlpool EveryDrop, Bosch CS-52
  • Short source: Smeg FAB28, Hisense RF, older Defy models
  • Inline universals: 1/4 inch carbon inline, cap and housing sets

Fridge filter finder FAQ

Most common questions from homeowners using the finder for the first time. If yours is not here, the WhatsApp link below takes you straight to us.

Pick your fridge brand, pick the closest series, then type your full model number. The tool matches your model prefix against our database of genuine and compatible filter cartridges and shows you the exact part you need, plus a one tap way to request supply and installation from Andy Plumbers in Johannesburg.

Look on the sticker inside the fridge, usually on the left wall above the top shelf, or on the back of the unit. Samsung models typically start with RS, RF or RB. LG models often start with GSL, GSI, GSP or GR. Whirlpool, Bosch and Smeg print the full model code on the same sticker. If you cannot see it, send a photo of the sticker via WhatsApp and we will identify it for you.

We supply both. Genuine OEM cartridges are branded by the fridge manufacturer and carry the original part number. Compatible cartridges are made by reputable filter companies to match the same housing, flow rate, micron rating and certification. Both work reliably in the fridge. We quote both options on every match and let you choose based on budget and warranty preference.

Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, Bosch, Smeg, Hisense and Defy are in the finder. If your fridge is a brand we have not listed, or an older model that does not appear, pick the closest match or hit the WhatsApp link and send a photo of the model sticker. We stock the most common cartridges and can source the rest within a few days.

Most internal push in and twist in cartridges are designed for homeowner replacement. We supply with a simple instruction sheet if you want to do it yourself. For inline filters behind or under the fridge, or for first time installs where the water line needs to be tapped in, we recommend our installation service. It avoids leaks, damaged couplings and a fridge that will not dispense correctly afterwards.

Every six months is the general guideline for most fridges, or every 1 500 to 2 500 litres depending on the specific cartridge. Many modern fridges have an indicator light that tells you when. If your water starts tasting off, the dispenser flow slows down, or ice cubes start carrying a funny smell, that is usually the filter telling you it is time.

The finder covers the most common Samsung, LG, Bosch, Whirlpool, Smeg, Hisense and Defy residential fridges sold in South Africa. If yours is not listed, pick the closest matching series and hit send anyway, or click the WhatsApp fallback and send us a photo of the model sticker. We will identify the correct cartridge and come back with a quote the same day during business hours.

Yes, we supply and install across Sandton, Bryanston, Fourways, Hyde Park, Morningside, Rosebank, Randburg, Fairland, Northcliff, Linden, Parkhurst and the surrounding northern Johannesburg suburbs. A typical fridge filter swap takes 20 to 30 minutes including flushing and resetting the fridge indicator. First time inline installations take a bit longer because we tap the water line in properly.

It depends on the cartridge, whether you choose genuine OEM or a reputable compatible, and whether it is a cartridge swap or a first time inline install. Use the finder to get the exact part for your fridge, then hit Get a Quote and we will come back with a straight written figure for supply plus installation. No surprise fees, no upselling.

Matched it, or stuck?

If the finder gave you a match, hit Get a Quote and we will come back with a written figure for supply and installation. If your fridge did not appear, WhatsApp us a photo of the model sticker and we will identify it from there.
