A Linden family had drilled a borehole and were using it for the garden, the kids' paddling pool, and occasionally for cooking water during outages. They called us because they wanted to know it was actually safe.
We collected a sample from the borehole and, while we were there, one from the kitchen tap. The borehole water showed elevated nitrates and total coliforms. The municipal supply came back within SANS 241 limits.
We installed an under-sink reverse osmosis unit for drinking water and a UV steriliser on the borehole line. Problem solved, and they finally knew exactly what was in their water. That is what professional water testing looks like: facts first, then the right solution.
