A Blairgowrie homeowner had a borehole drilled and a pump installed by a drilling company. The water flowed beautifully: strong pressure, good volume. But within weeks, orange staining appeared on bathroom fixtures, the bathtub had a ring after every use, and the laundry was picking up a rusty tinge.
The borehole water had high iron and manganese levels, common in Randburg's geological profile. The drilling company did not test the water or suggest filtration.
We tested the water, identified the iron and manganese levels, and designed a three-stage system: a sediment pre-filter, an iron and manganese oxidising filter with automatic backwash, and a UV steriliser for bacteria safety. The staining stopped within a day of the system going live.
That is what happens when a plumber handles your borehole, not just the pump, but the whole water quality picture.
